Our History
Children's HealthWatch began in 1998 when founder, Dr. Deborah A. Frank, and colleagues, decided that someone needed to monitor the child health effects of the 1996 Welfare Reform Act. The group originally designed Children's HealthWatch as a time-limited project, but as their work progressed, it became clear that there was a strong, ongoing need for non-partisan original research in the area of child health and nutrition. Children's HealthWatch came to fill a unique niche, serving as a source of both credible, timely scientific research and informed, non-partisan policy analysis on a broad range of issues involving child health and nutrition.
