Hospital food pantry offers prescription for hunger

Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN has launched a Therapeutic Food Pharmacy to serve patients referred by doctors at the hospital's clinics. The Therapeutic Food pharmacy began in May 2009 and provides families facing food insecurity with packaged bags of foods that meet nutritional standards. The program is funded by grants and donations provided to the hospital and the county.
