Boston University Medical Campus on the Frontline: Meeting the Needs of Women and Children in our Communities

Roundtable Discussion - Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators and Boston University Medical Campus

Senate Assistant Majority Whip Karen Spilka and Representative Cory Atkins, the co-chairs of the Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators, and faculty at the Boston University School of Medicine and School of Public Health hosted a roundtable discussion at the Boston University Medical Campus on September 25.

The faculty discussed four topics selected by the Women's Caucus co-chairs and their impacts on women and children. These topics were: nutrition and obesity, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's, and health disparities. Dr. Deborah Frank, Children's HealthWatch Founder and Principal Investigator, and Dr. Megan Sandel, Children's Health Watch Co-Principal Investigator, presented Children's HealthWatch data in discussing the impact of food insecurity on women and children as well as the policy implications of food insecurity.
